Im 11 weeks and my nose is totally blocked, cant breathe at night properly. I used to take otrivin drops before but now scared to use anything. Will ask my gynac also but wanted to know if anyone used it during pregnancy?
Usually, standard over-the-counter decongestant sprays like Otrivin are not highly recommended during pregnancy unless your doctor specifically prescribes it. Better to stick to simple saline nasal drops or just take regular steam. These work wonders without any unnecessary risk!
Honestly, I wouldn't risk it dear. Because of my previous history, I became extremely careful and my gynac told me to completely avoid such nasal sprays as they can constrict blood vessels. Standard steam inhalation or natural saline drops are much safer for our peace of mind.
I completely understand how frustrating it is when you can't breathe properly and everything makes you anxious. Trust me, your feelings are so valid, pregnancy stuff is so scary. Definitely talk to your gynac before taking Otrivin, and maybe try some warm steam for relief in the meantime.
Sending you a big hug, I know how hard it is to manage a blocked nose while already dealing with pregnancy struggles! Please ask your gynac before using any medicated sprays, okay? Your body is doing so much work, just stay safe and take it easy.
Oh, I totally panicked when I accidentally used it once during my second trimester! But my doctor reassured me that a one-off use won't harm the baby at all. Just try to avoid using it regularly and ask your doc for a safe alternative like saline drops next time.
