Im in second trimester and my appetite is so low that i barely finish meals. A friend suggested some protein powder to fill the gap. Just wondering if its really needed or if normal food is enough?
Actually with a busy schedule I struggled to eat enough, so my gynac approved one pregnancy specific powder. Point is dont just pick any random one off the shelf, get it cleared first. Whatever fits your routine and is safe.
My doctor said protein is important but it doesnt have to come from powder. She told me dal, eggs, paneer, milk usually cover it for most women. She only suggested a supplement when my levels were a bit low, otherwise food first.
I was using whey before pregnancy but I stopped and asked my doc first. She switched me to food based protein and it was honestly fine. Better to check before continuing any supplement.
These powders can be expensive yaar and most of us dont actually need them. Eggs, peanuts, curd, sprouts are cheap and do the job. I saved that money for the delivery costs instead.
