Saw taurine listed on a drink label and got confused. Im in my second trimester and trying to be careful with everything i take. Does anyone know if this is fine or should be avoided?
Honestly I wouldnt take any supplement or drink with taurine without asking my gynac first. I always run even small things by her, dont want to assume anything is safe.
If you mean those Red Bull type drinks, just say no, the caffeine alone is enough reason. I cut all that out and stuck to coconut water when I needed energy at work.
Taurine in normal food is fine, but the worry is usually energy drinks that have taurine plus loads of caffeine. When I asked my doctor about energy drinks she said avoid them completely in pregnancy. So depends where the taurine is coming from.
It really depends on the source and amount, so this is a perfect one to ask your gynac directly. They can tell you based on your situation, better than guessing online.
