My feet and ankles have started swelling by night, specially in this heat. Im around 28 weeks. Is it just normal pregnancy thing or something I should check? anyone else getting this na?
No need to buy expensive creams, just put 2-3 pillows under your feet when u are lying down on the bed. Also, avoid tight elastic socks or heavy footwear. Just wear simple, loose ghar ke slippers and give your feet some rest.
When my feet started swelling in the third trimester, my mom would make me soak them in warm water with a little rock salt. She also strictly told me never to sit with my legs hanging down. It really helped reduce the puffiness.
It's just your body holding onto extra water and blood for the baby. Limit your salt intake, drink plenty of water (yes, it actually helps!), and don't stand for too long. Keep moving and don't sit in one position.
I am still trying to conceive, but I've heard so many women talk about swollen feet during pregnancy. It must be so uncomfortable! Does keeping your feet elevated on a pillow while sleeping help to reduce the swelling?
While mild swelling is normal, sudden swelling in your face, hands, or feet can sometimes be a sign of high BP or preeclampsia. Please be very careful and contact your gynac immediately if you notice a sudden increase, just to be safe.
Swelling, or edema, is usually due to increased fluid retention in the body. However, my doctor at the hospital always emphasized checking for sudden swelling, as it can be linked to high BP. Definitely mention it to your care team during your next checkup.
As a working mom who had to sit at a desk for 8 hours, my feet used to swell up like balloons. My advice is to take small walking breaks every hour and keep a small stool under your office desk to rest your feet. Wear comfortable flat shoes, no tight footwear!
