My heart suddenly races even when im just sitting and it scares me a little. Im in second trimester and didnt have this before. Wanted to understand why this happens, will ask my gynac too but wanted to hear from others who went through same.
My gynac explained that in pregnancy your blood volume rises and the heart works harder, so a faster heart rate is somewhat normal. But she said things like anemia, thyroid or dehydration can also cause it. So if it is frequent or with breathlessness, it needs to be checked.
I had episodes of a racing heart and my doctor checked it properly rather than us guessing. Please dont just assume it is normal, especially if you feel dizzy or short of breath. Get it evaluated by your gynac to be safe.
When my heart kept racing, it turned out my thyroid was off, so they checked that. The point is, a fast heartbeat can have a few causes worth testing. Please get your levels checked and keep up the follow ups.
