Newly pregnant and honestly very confused about what to avoid. Everyone at home is giving me different lists, some say no papaya some say no this. Can you all tell me what foods you actually stayed away from?
We were told to avoid raw papaya and to keep everything well cooked. I stayed away from outside food mostly and stuck to home meals. Ask your doctor for a clear list, mine gave me one and it helped a lot.
Realistically the big ones are raw/undercooked food, unpasteurised dairy and limiting caffeine. As a working mom I just stopped ordering risky outside food and carried home cooked tiffin. Simple swaps, no need to panic about every item.
Beta elders always said no to papaya and too much heaty food in early months. Avoid outside cut fruits and unhygienic food specially. Eat fresh home cooked khana, that is the safest in pregnancy.
Apart from the usual raw stuff, I had to really cut down on sugary and fried foods because of my sugar levels. Everyone's list is a bit different depending on their health. Best is to get a proper diet chart from your gynac or a dietitian.
Basic stuff I avoided both times: raw or half cooked eggs and meat, unpasteurised milk, papaya and pineapple in large amounts, and too much caffeine. Also street food when stomach is sensitive. Cook things well and you're mostly safe.
