Everyone in my family keeps warning me not to touch papaya now that im pregnant, im 10 weeks. But i used to eat it almost daily before. What actually happens if u eat it, is it really that risky? little confused with all the warnings.
The concern is with unripe, raw papaya, which has more of the enzyme people worry about. Fully ripe papaya in moderation is considered ok by many, but honestly to be safe I avoided it in the first trimester. Ask your gynac for clarity.

I accidentally ate some ripe papaya and panicked, but my doctor said a small ripe portion is not the dangerous one, raw green papaya is. So dont stress if it was ripe and little. I just avoid it now to be safe.
