My sugar test is coming up next week and im a bit nervous because diabetes runs in my family. Just want to understand what level is considered too high in pregnancy so I know what to watch for. Will discuss with my doc also.
When i had borderline sugar, my doc just gave me a small glucometer and target numbers to log. Quick walk after lunch and dinner made a real difference for me. But your danger level depends on your test, so let the doctor set it, dont go by general figures.
Honestly the safe and unsafe range is best confirmed by your doctor, because pregnancy targets are tighter and they adjust based on your readings. If your sugar is running high, dont wait it out, get the doctor to guide you on diet or medicine.
My doctor explained that in pregnancy the fasting and post meal targets are kept lower than usual, and they do the GTT test to check. She didnt want me guessing numbers from internet, she gave me my own target chart. So please get your exact range from your gynac after the sugar test.
The thing is normal numbers and pregnancy numbers are different, so a level that's okay otherwise can be high in pregnancy. Better to do the proper sugar test your doctor recommends and let them tell you whats dangerous for you. Self comparing can scare you unnecessarily.
I had GD in my pregnancy so i checked sugar a lot. The exact danger numbers your doctor will tell you because targets are stricter in pregnancy than normal. What helped me was small frequent meals, less rice/sweets and a short walk after eating. But pls follow your gynac and diet chart, dont self decide.
