I heard a cousin mention she developed a hernia during her pregnancy and it scared me a little. Im 6 months along and just want to understand what it actually is and why it happens. could anyone explain?
If you feel a small bulge near your navel or groin that pops out, especially when you cough or strain, please show your gynac. Mine kept an eye on mine through pregnancy. Mostly managed carefully, but get it looked at, dont self diagnose.
Dont let the word scare you dear. It just means a weak spot in the tummy wall where something bulges a little, and the pregnancy pressure can bring it out. Your doctor will guide you, most of the time it's watched calmly.
From what my doctor explained, a hernia is when a bit of tissue or intestine pushes through a weak spot in the tummy wall, and pregnancy can make it show up because of the pressure and stretching. Often it's near the belly button. She said to watch it but not panic.
Basically it's a soft bulge from a weak abdominal wall, the growing belly puts pressure so it can appear or get more noticeable in pregnancy. Usually doctors just monitor it and deal with it after delivery if needed. Avoid heavy lifting meanwhile.
