Got my scan report today and it mentions BPD with some number, i didnt understand what it means. Doc was in a hurry so couldnt ask properly. Can someone explain in simple words?
It's just a head measurement they take in your scan, biparietal diameter. Dont worry if the number sounds technical, the radiologist and your gynac read it together with other values. They'll tell you if all is well.
BPD means Biparietal Diameter, it's the measurement of baby's head across, side to side. They measure it in the ultrasound to estimate baby's growth and age. My doctor used it along with other measurements to check development.

BPD is one of those scan abbreviations, it's the width of baby's head. My tracker app showed it growing each scan which was reassuring. It's used to estimate gestational age and weight basically.
