Someone in my family mentioned getting a NIFTY test done and I had never heard of it before. Im 11 weeks now. Matlab what does it actually check and is it really needed? Pls explain if u have done it.
The NIFTY test is a non-invasive prenatal test that checks the baby's DNA from your blood to look for genetic conditions. I had it done in my first trimester just to be safe, and it's completely safe for the baby. After my C-section and recovery, seeing my healthy baby made every test worth it.
Having conceived through IVF, we wanted to be absolutely sure about everything, so we chose the NIFTY test. Since it only requires a blood sample from the mother, there is absolutely no risk of miscarriage. It provides immense emotional peace during a precious pregnancy.
I have my regular scan next week and my doctor mentioned this test. Is it compulsory for everyone, or only if there is some issue in the dual marker scan? Pls share your experience.
My doctor explained that NIFTY stands for Non-Invasive Fetal Trisomy Test. It screens for chromosomal abnormalities like Down syndrome using cell-free fetal DNA from the mother's blood. It has a very high accuracy rate of over 99% and can be done from week 10 onwards.
