At my last scan the doctor wrote something about IUGR and said baby is measuring small, but i didnt fully understand and forgot to ask properly. Now im a bit anxious. Can anyone explain what it actually means?
My second baby was flagged with mild IUGR. It sounds scary but with close monitoring, more scans and good nutrition my doc managed it well and baby came out fine. If urs is flagged, just follow ur doctor strictly.
I totally understand the fear behind this term, I cried when I first heard it for mine. But please dont lose hope, many IUGR babies do absolutely fine with good care. Stay close to ur doctor and eat well, sending u love.
IUGR means intrauterine growth restriction, basically the baby is growing slower than expected for the weeks. My doc explained it shows up on scans by measuring the baby. They then monitor more closely with extra checkups.
It stands for intrauterine growth restriction, meaning the baby's growth is restricted in the womb. There can be many reasons so it needs proper evaluation. Ur gynac is the right person to explain ur specific case.
