Just found out im pregnant, about 5 weeks, and im suddenly second guessing everything in my kitchen. Want to be careful right from the start. Can you mommies tell me what to completely avoid these first months?
My gynac told me to skip alcohol fully, limit caffeine, avoid raw fish and meat, and be careful with soft unpasteurised cheeses. She also said wash produce well to avoid infection. She gave me a little list at my first visit which helped.
Beta avoid raw and undercooked food, and very heaty things in excess as elders say. Stick to fresh home cooked meals, that is always safest. For anything specific, your doctor will tell you what to skip.
I avoided raw or undercooked eggs and meat, unpasteurised stuff, too much caffeine and obviously alcohol. Also street food where hygiene is doubtful, just to be safe. Cook everything well and wash fruits and veg properly.
Honestly in early pregnancy with my nausea I just couldnt face much anyway. I kept to bland safe food and avoided raw and very oily things. Listen to what your stomach tolerates while skipping the risky stuff.
