Ive been having bad itching on my palms and feet at night, doc asked for a bile acid test. Now im waiting for results and reading up while i worry. Anyone know what level is considered normal in pregnancy?
This is usually checked when there is a lot of itching, it can be a condition called cholestasis. The normal range your lab and doctor will tell, but if you have intense itching specially on palms and soles, please get tested and tell your gynac soon.
My doctor checked this when I complained of itching at night. There is a normal cutoff value and above it they call it ICP. I wont quote exact numbers since labs differ, but your gynac reads the report and decides monitoring. Dont ignore itching.
Honestly the exact level is something your doctor interprets, dont go by internet numbers. If you are being tested for this it means they are watching for itching/cholestasis. Stay in close touch with your gynac about it.
I dont know the exact numbers but a friend had high bile acids and her doctor monitored her closely and even planned early delivery. Point is they take it seriously. Keep your follow ups regular and report any itching.
