Me and my husband are planning to start trying in a few months and i want to do things properly this time. Not sure which blood tests or checkups we should get done beforehand. Would love a rough idea of what you all did before conceiving.
My doctor ran a basic panel before we started, things like hemoglobin, thyroid, sugar and a few infections. She also checked vitamin levels. Best to get a preconception checkup so they can advise the exact list for you.
With PCOS my doctor added a few hormone tests too before we tried. So the list really depends on your history. A proper preconception visit is worth it, it saved me time later.
We are at this exact stage and planning to do a checkup soon. Thank you for asking, the replies are giving me a good idea. Feeling a little less lost now.
Get a general health check, blood group, thyroid and sugar at least, and start folic acid once your doctor advises. Don't skip the preconception consult. It really sets you up well for a smoother pregnancy.
