Gynac started me on iron tablets but i always feel a bit queasy after taking them. Should it be morning or night, before food or after? whatever timing worked best for u pls tell, i want to avoid the nausea.
My gynac told me to start iron after the first trimester usually, once the nausea settles, because iron can upset the stomach early on. She said take it with vitamin C like a glass of nimbu pani for better absorption, and not with milk or tea. Follow whatever your doctor prescribes though, dosage depends on your hemoglobin.
Your hemoglobin test decides this honestly, so get that done first. The govt iron folic tablets work fine, no need for expensive brands unless doc says so. I took mine post lunch and it suited me.
Most docs start iron from around the 4th month. I always took mine at night after dinner so the nausea didnt bother me. Dont take it with chai or coffee, it blocks the absorption.
Iron made my nausea worse so my doctor switched the timing to bedtime and it helped a lot. If it upsets you, dont just stop, tell your gynac and they adjust it. Taking it with food also eased my stomach.
