If you have gestational diabetes like I did, you have to be very careful with high-sugar fruits like mangoes, sapota (chiku), and grapes as they can spike your blood sugar levels. Avoid raw papaya anyway, and stick to low-glycemic fruits like guava or jamun in small portions.
Generally, raw or semi-ripe papaya and pineapple are advised to be avoided because they contain enzymes like latex and bromelain which might cause contractions. However, most other fruits are perfectly fine if washed thoroughly to avoid infections. Still, it's always best to have a quick chat with your doctor about your diet.
Since I had PCOS, my hormone levels were already tricky, so I was very cautious with my diet. I completely avoided raw papaya and pineapple just to be on the safer side. Focus on fiber-rich fruits like apples or pears in limited quantities and always discuss with your gynac if you have doubts.
My baby tracker apps always highlighted avoiding unpasteurized fruit juices and raw papaya due to infection risks and latex. Fruits like grapes are also debated sometimes because of resveratrol, but mostly they are fine in moderation. Just log what you eat and keep track of how your body reacts!
Honestly, I used to worry about every single fruit, but now looking back at my active toddler, I realize moderation is key. Just avoid raw papaya and excessive pineapple, and make sure whatever you eat is washed super well. Relax and enjoy your fruits, they are great for baby's growth.
Oh God, I was so scared of eating the wrong fruit that I literally googled every single bite before eating! Just stay far away from raw papaya, pineapple, and also wash grapes and apples like ten times because of pesticides and bacteria. It's better to be extra careful, we can't take any chances.
