Im 25 weeks and these days i cant figure out which side to lie on, keep turning whole night. Read somewhere one side is better for baby but not sure left ya right. How do u all manage?
I just had my baby last month and let me tell you, left side sleeping is definitely the most comfortable. I used to tuck a normal pillow between my knees and one behind my back. It completely changed my sleep quality in the third trimester.
Beta, left side is always preferred because it keeps the pressure off your liver and main blood vessels. But don't stress yourself out if you occasionally sleep on your right. Just try to keep a cushion near you for support and sleep peacefully.
My hospital's lactation and prenatal care team specifically told me to practice sleeping on the left side from the second trimester. They even showed me the correct pillow placements during my last visit. If you are confused, just ask your doctor or the nursing staff to guide you, they are very helpful.
Sleeping on the left side is recommended, but oh my god, I used to wake up in panic every time I found myself on my back! Honestly, don't worry if u roll over in sleep, just gently turn back to the left. Using a maternity pillow really helped me stay on my side.
Sleeping on your left side is the best as it improves blood flow to the baby. Along with proper sleep, I also do 30 minutes of prenatal yoga and mild walking which helps with back pain, but only do it if your doctor has allowed.
