I felt so much pressure to always sleep on my left side! My doctor explained that it's because it helps with the baby's circulation and prevents pressure on major blood vessels. It took some getting used to, but I felt better knowing I was doing something good for my little one.
Left side is definitely recommended, and I found it helped a tiny bit with my terrible acidity too, though morning sickness was still a nightmare! If you're really uncomfortable, try propping yourself up slightly with pillows. Listen to your body, but try to favor the left side as much as possible.
Ah, the great sleeping dilemma of pregnancy! Everyone says left side is king, but honestly, by the third trimester, any side where you can actually get 5 minutes of sleep without feeling like a whale feels like a luxury! Just avoid flat on your back if you can.
Left side is generally recommended for better blood flow to the baby and your kidneys. I just used a regular pillow to support my growing belly and another between my knees. It really helps a lot for comfort. Don't stress too much if you turn a bit, but try to start on the left.
My Mummy always made sure I slept on my left side, especially after my sixth month. She'd put pillows all around me to keep me comfortable and prevent me from rolling. It's supposed to be much better for the baby, beta, and I trusted her completely.
My consultant at Breach Candy Hospital strongly advised sleeping on the left side to optimize blood flow to the placenta and baby. They even provided detailed handouts on safe sleeping positions. It's always best to clarify these things thoroughly with your doctor or the hospital staff during your appointments.
My doc also said left side is ideal, especially later on in pregnancy. I'm in my second trimester now and trying my best to get used to it. Does anyone else find it really hard to stick to one side all night? I keep turning!
