Just found out im pregnant last week, still processing it honestly. My first appointment is in a few days and i want to be a little prepared about what all tests they usually ask for. Can you ladies tell me what to expect?
My doctor gave me a whole list at booking, blood group, CBC, thyroid, sugar, hemoglobin, urine and a few scans across trimesters. There is also the anomaly scan around 18 to 20 weeks and a glucose test later. She said the exact set depends on ur health, so follow ur own gynac's chart.
I got a bit overwhelmed seeing how many tests there are honestly. Did everyone feel the same in the beginning. My gynac said most are routine and nothing to fear, that calmed me down.
Just a heads up, the tests add up cost wise so plan a little. Some hospitals offer a maternity package that bundles the scans and routine bloods. I compared a couple of labs and saved a decent amount.
Broadly it is blood tests, urine tests, scans and a glucose test, repeated at different stages. Keep a folder for all reports, it helps so much at appointments. Your doctor will tell u exactly what and when for ur case.
