Twice this week i got a sudden nosebleed out of nowhere, never used to happen before pregnancy. Im 4 months now and it kind of scared me the first time. Is this a normal pregnancy thing or should i mention it to my doctor? anyone else?
This happened to me also, my mother said it's the body heat and extra blood during pregnancy. She told me to dab a little cool water and rest. It settled. But for anything heavy or repeated, I'd still check with the doctor, na.
My gynac said nosebleeds are common in pregnancy because of extra blood flow and the hormones making the nose lining more fragile, plus dryness adds to it. She told me to be gentle blowing my nose and keep the air a bit humid. Did help me.
Oh I got scared the first time this happened to me too, full panic. But it's apparently a normal pregnancy thing from the extra blood flow. Pinching the nose stopped it. I still mentioned it to my doc just to feel reassured, maybe you can too.
Dont be alarmed dear, occasional nosebleeds happen in pregnancy because blood flow goes up and the nose gets a bit delicate. Stay hydrated and blow gently. Just if it's a lot of bleeding or very often, let your gynac know to be safe.
Pretty common actually, the increased blood volume in pregnancy makes the tiny vessels in the nose break easily. Sit, lean slightly forward and pinch the soft part of the nose for a few minutes, it stops. But if it's heavy or frequent, tell your doctor.
