Someone told me sitz bath is a no during pregnancy and I got curious why. I have a lot of discomfort down there and was thinking it might help, but now confused. Anyone know the reason behind this?
Haha, who even has time for a sitz bath, I barely get to take a 5-minute shower now! But yes, doctors advise against it because hot water and wet tubs can easily lead to vaginal infections. Better to keep it simple and skip it for now.
I actually wanted to take one for my back pain, but my doctor strictly said no. Hot water sitting can raise your core body temperature and cause infections. I just stuck to safe warm water showers, which felt so much better.
I'm currently planning my pregnancy and was reading about this! I think the high temperature of hot water can raise the body's temperature, which is unsafe for the baby. Plus there's a risk of catching infections from the tub, right?
My mother also told me to avoid sitting in hot tubs or sitz baths during my pregnancy. She said it's not good for the baby's safety and can cause heat in the body. We used to just use warm compresses for any aches instead.
