My legs and feet have started to swell quite a bit, especially by the end of the day. I'm pregnant, and I was wondering why this happens. Is it a normal part of pregnancy, and what causes it?
Water retention is very common, haan. I used to keep my feet elevated on pillows and avoid sitting with crossed legs. But if the swelling is very sudden or you have high BP, please contact your doctor immediately.
My trainer and doc advised me to do gentle ankle rotations and light walking to improve blood circulation. It really helped reduce my leg swelling. Always check with your doctor before starting any exercises though.
My feet looked like balloons by the third trimester! Personally, what helped me was walking slowly and soaking my feet in warm salt water. But do mention it to your gynac, just to be safe.
I had terrible swelling towards the end, and even after my C-section, it took a few days to go away. Just keep your legs elevated and don't stand for too long. If it feels painful or one leg is more swollen, let your doc know.
Ah, those swollen feet! I remember none of my shoes fit me in my ninth month. It's mostly just fluid retention and completely normal. It goes away soon after delivery, so don't worry too much!
In pregnancy, your body holds more water, which causes swelling. I had thyroid issues too, so my gynac checked my swelling and BP at every visit. Make sure you are going for your regular follow-ups to keep an eye on it.
