I keep getting these sudden cramps in my calves, mostly at night and it wakes me up. Im in my third trimester now. Why does this even happen and what helps? its really uncomfortable.
My doctor said the growing uterus presses on blood vessels and nerves which triggers cramps, plus mineral changes. She told me to keep up calcium and water intake. If a cramp comes, flex your foot upward to ease it.
Leg cramps are super common, usually from low calcium or magnesium and the extra weight. I used to get them at night badly. Stretch your calf before bed and stay hydrated, it really helped me.
Normal cramps are ok but if one leg gets swollen, red or painful constantly, dont ignore it, get it checked. Mine turned out fine but the doctor said better to rule things out. Just be a little watchful.
