I'm in my first trimester and want to make sure I'm gaining weight in a healthy way. Can anyone share how they calculate their ideal weight gain during pregnancy?

I've had this bad cough and cold for a few days and someone at ghar suggested benadryl. But I'm 16 weeks and scared to take anything without checking. Planning to ask my doc but wanted to hear if anyone took it during pregnancy.
