My prolactin was high so doc started me on tablets for it. We are also trying to conceive at the same time and now im confused whether these tablets will come in the way or actually help. Anyone been on them while trying?
I was on tablets to control high prolactin and actually high prolactin itself stops ovulation and makes conceiving hard. The tablets bring it down so it can HELP conceive, not block. But pls confirm with your doctor for your exact case.
This really depends on which tablet and your levels, so i wouldn't rely on general answers. Please talk to the doctor who prescribed it, they'll tell you if it affects timing of trying for a baby.
My gynac explained it like this, raised prolactin disturbs your cycle and ovulation, the tablet lowers it so periods and ovulation can normalise. So it's usually given to improve fertility, not prevent it. Ask your doc which tablet and why exactly.
During my journey i learnt high prolactin can come in the way of getting pregnant, and the medicine is given to correct that. Every body is different though, so dont stop or start anything without your doctor's word. Sending you good wishes.
Generally prolactin lowering meds support pregnancy by fixing ovulation. But the safest answer is from your treating doctor since dose and your reports matter. Don't go by hearsay on this one.
