My gynac mentioned some screening test in my next visit and now im a bit anxious. This is my first pregnancy so i dont know what all tests come for this. Can someone tell me what they did and when?
The double marker and NT scan are the basic ones and not too costly. NIPT is more accurate but expensive, around thousands. Ask your doctor if you really need NIPT or if standard screening is enough for you.
My doctor explained there's a double marker blood test plus NT scan around 11-13 weeks, and later a quad marker if needed. There's also NIPT which is a blood test, more accurate but costs more. Best to ask your gynac which combo suits your case.
There are simple blood tests and a scan in the first trimester for this, your doctor will arrange it. Dont read too much online and scare yourself. Just go for the tests she advises and trust the process.
I did the NT scan with double marker first, that's the standard screening. If risk comes higher they suggest NIPT or amnio. Your doc will guide the timing, it's quite organized actually.
Please do these screenings on time and through a proper doctor, dont skip them. In my case the early screening helped catch things early. Discuss your family history with your gynac also.
I'm going for my double marker next week, was nervous too. Did anyone find the NT scan stressful? My doctor said it's just routine screening, nothing to panic about.
