Just curious about this one. I keep reading about heartburn in pregnancy but havent felt it yet in my first tri. Does it usually start later? When did it begin for u all?
Oh, for me, heartburn started the moment I looked at spicy food in my third trimester! It's like having a little dragon inside. Walking a bit after dinner really helped tame the beast!
I had terrible heartburn in my final trimester while staying at my parents' house. My mom used to give me cold milk or a bit of vanilla ice cream, which was so soothing.
Heartburn usually starts getting bad in the second and third trimester as the baby grows. But if it becomes very severe or you have chest pain, please check with your gynac to get safe antacids.
I had severe heartburn right up to my C-section day because of the pressure. It vanished almost immediately after delivery, so hang in there, it's just a temporary phase!
Heartburn is very common in the later months due to hormonal changes. It can be uncomfortable, but try to rest with your head elevated. If it makes you feel very uneasy, just ask your doctor for guidance.
In my experience, heartburn started around week 20 and stayed till delivery. I used to drink cold milk or have small portions of food to manage it, which worked really well for me.
It generally kicks in around the 5th or 6th month because the baby starts pushing up against your stomach. Don't worry, just eat smaller meals and don't lie down immediately after eating.
